United Way’s Area Agency on Aging (UWAAA) is seeking volunteers to help at its annual Senior Celebration. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 9, 2019 at Boutwell Auditorium and will feature more than 700 Jefferson County seniors celebrating Older Americans Month with entertainment, fellowship and lunch.
Areas in which volunteers are needed include set-up, check-in, greeters/guides, photo booth and clean-up. Set-up will take place the day before the event May 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. This team’s duties include unloading and organizing water, snacks, table décor and general event supplies. UWAAA is also searching for both pre and post-event greeters/guides. The pre-event team will greet attendees upon their arrival and guide them to their assigned tables while the post-event team will escort seniors from their tables to their buses. Greeters will also be responsible for answering questions regarding the event space. The shift for pre-event greeters is from 8:30 to 11 .am. and post-event from noon to 2 .pm.
Photo booth volunteers will take pictures of seniors and assist them with the usage of props. Cameras will be provided to those who choose to serve at the photo booth. Shifts for photo booth volunteers are from 9 to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. From noon to 2 p.m., individuals on the clean-up team will be in charge of breaking down and cleaning up after the Senior Celebration.
